Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered.. I hosted the site at godaddy so it’s kinda pain in the ass.
Did you set up wildcard subdomains?
no I did not. because If I do, I won’t be able to create subdomains according to this tutorial:
http://keithjameslock.com/wordpress-mu-with-subdomains-godaddy-shared-hosting/#comment-241770
and right now I got another problem, when I create a new subdomain, it only last around 30mins and then it came out this error:
Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
If you don’t have a dedicated IP, you can’t use subdomains on godaddy at all.
I have a deluxe account and dedicated IP already.
Btw, thanks for sharing your time helping me. Really man, appreciate it!
Okay so you’re MANUALLY making a subdomain and pointing it to public_html? Or wherever the hell GoDaddy shoves their main html folder?
yes.
This is what i’ve been doing:
1. create new site with wordpress MU called orlando.exbosses.com(experimenting domain).
2. go to cpanel, create subdomain -> “orlando.exbosses.com” and select folder called “/orlando”
3. after the setup resolved, I go to the DNS manager and point the orlando to: the ip that my “@” pointing to which is: 184.168.189.1
I did right, didn’t I?
Two things may be wrong.
1) Are you trying to map to a subfolder install of a subdomain? You can’t do that. You MUST have your install in exbosses.com in order to use subdomain.exbosses.com
2) You don’t make your subdomains point to the folder, you make them point to where the MAIN install of WP is.
Properly it’s this:
1) WP in Install exbosses.com and turn on MultiSite.
2) Map orlando.exbosses.com to exbosses.com (NOT a subfolder, just the main root of your HTML folder)
3) Make a subdomain called Orlando
