method for default compare choices?

My client wishes to have three of the items under the Compare Products page to be selected by default. The reason for this is so he can send his clients a direct link to the compare page which will show the three most important products in his store. Right now, if you send someone the link, the page will be empty because the user has to select to compare each item before it will show up on the compare screen.
If there is not a way to do it in the Free version, is there a way to do it in the Paid version? If so, then we will likely purchase the plugin, but I want to make sure that your plugin has this functionality before I commit.
