• OK I just finished the design portion of my website and blogger and now need to move on. I have an extremely silly question, but you have to understand that I am a complete newbie at this kind of stuff and know very little about putting up websites much less dealing with the code.

Here’s my question: Can someone please explain to me how I get my site listed on search engines? I’m assuming I go to the search engine and click on “submit site” and go from there. I’m really confused about the metatags and keywords. Can someone explain them to me and what would be my next step to doing these.

    Thanks so much.

  • I have never submitted my site/blog to any search engine. And I don’t have any keywords in my blog either.
However, I am happy when I google my nickname 🙂

Do you still get a lot of traffic though?

I want to have my site come up in the seach engines so that, for example, if someone types in “pencil portraits,” my site will come up at a reasonable spot.

You just started that blog. Give it a few weeks, write posts about the important words… and see what will happen. But it never happens over night.

True, I know it won’t happen overnight. However, I’m still confused about putting metatags and keywords.

This topic came up several times… and the gurus said most of the search engines don’t rely anymore on keywords and other meta stuff.

Hmmm. Ok. So basically I don’t really have to do anything, not even submit my main site http://www.shoganart.com to search engines?
