what theme are you working with?
your theme might be adding its own meta tags; check header.php or the function files of your theme for any codes relating to <meta ..... >
I use WPZOOM MEETA themes.
In the header.php there are no meta description and no meta keywords.

it is possible/likely, that the theme uses its own meta functionality;
please check the issue directly with the theme’s developer, as this forum here only fully supports the themes from https://wordpress.org/themes/
Thanks for support! WPZOOM MEETA themes uses its own meta functionality. I deactivate it and now it works well.
