I installed the archives widget and then logged out of my site. When I refreshed the home page, everything BUT the archives links were gone from my sidebar, including my Meta stuff, including my Log In.
How can I log back in and get to my dashboard? I'm scratching my head right about now.

You can do login at your blog dashboard at http://yourblogURL/wp-admin.
It seems that your theme sidebar is dynamic. Hence, when you have added the widget in sidebar that default sidebar detail file is not executed..so I prefer you to go to the sidebar.php file of your blog theme and add the archive code there manually to work them fine..
