Menu Realignment and Color Change

I’m brand new to web design and I’ve built a great shell with the Customizr theme. I’m now trying to align the menu to the left and change the background color.

I’ve also tried to install the child theme to make customizations and that has not worked either. It’s installed but it’s not allowing me to install the plug-in on this site.
