I have tried everything and the solution is probably so simple & I just can't see it.
My menu text is bumping down in IE, but fine elsewhere.
Here is my css menu code:

Your theme seems to have quite a few CSS errors - a couple of which could affect cross-browser display. Having said that, I can't see any issues in IE8. If you're having problems with IE7, try conditional comment CSS.
