[resolved] MediaElement player doesn't show up (7 posts)

    Hi,

I know there's another similar thread about this, but it's been resolved for the original poster.

I'm having a similar problem, where only the "Download" link shows up for any episode. I just installed a brand new copy of WordPress and Seriously Simple Podcasting today.

The MP3/OGG/WAV files I'm using have been uploaded via FTP to a subdirectory of the domain. I included them in the episode posts by linking to their full URL. Their size/duration is correctly pulled from them.

Here is an example entry: http://doomradio.org/podcast/interview-with-xaser/

MediaElement.js never seems to get included anywhere in the page, so it's not a surprise that the player never shows up. I have tried with the default Twenty Twelve theme, Twenty Eleven, and another different theme.

    Am I doing something wrong?

I noticed that the "Use built-in plugin templates" option makes the audio player appear in the post, but of course the page that loads isn't themed like the rest of the site.

EDIT: So I got it to show up by creating a single-podcast.php for the theme I'm using, and copying some code over from single-podcast.php supplied by the plugin.

OK - I've worked out the reason for this happening on some sites and I will have an update out for it ASAP. The problem will be occurring when you are not using the built-in templates as they cater for the media player display natively, while the code I have added to the top of the content does not. I will fix this up and publish an update ASAP.

I've fixed this up and published it in v1.3.2. The media player will now display above the meta data no matter whether you are using the built-in templates or not.

@Sangueffusor - you'll have to edit the single-podcast.php file that you created otherwise you will probably end up with duplicate media players being displayed.

The update will be live in a few minutes and you will be able to get it from your WordPress dashboard.
