Media Uploader issues (12 posts)

Hey guys. I have a problem with the Media Uploader...

When adding media from the Media/Add New I can use the browser uploader, but the Flash Uploader's button is missing.

When attempting to use the Insert Image from a page or post, instead of getting the floating box coming up in the middle of the screen, it appears nested in the actual page itself.. BELOW the
"Thank you for creating with WordPress. | Documentation | FeedbackVersion 3.1" bar... and actually OFF the page and to the right... so All I can actually see is about 1/4 of the box. (I can't do anything)

Also, since the update of 3.1, the Admin-Bar that should appear at the top of the website is just a blank, white bar... and all the links appear at the bottom of the page below my footer.

I have tried all of the fixes as listed on the How To and Troubleshooting... as per Otto's post.

I am using Google Chrome browser, but the issue still occurs with Firefox and IE

I have 3 websites using the same template, and the issue is only occurring in one.

I have tried replacing all the wp-admin and wp-includes folders between the working and non-working sites.

Please help, I'm not sure what I've done to cause this issue, but any help is appreciated.

    Have you tried:

    - checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 - Master List

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I went through again this afternoon and re-checked everything.
    It's very frustrating.

It really does look like the result of a bad plugin or theme. Have you tried using another browser in case it's a browser issue?

Is there another way that I can test whether its' a bad plugin?

I've tried other browsers, to no avail.

I have done some modifications to the code of the theme... so what I am going to try is taking the original, unaltered theme and uploading it to its own directory, then changing the theme to that and seeing if there is still an issue.
I have my doubts that this is the problem, because when I switched to twenty ten the issues were still there, but none the less, I'll give it a go.

The plugin reset is usually the best route. The Phmyadmin method appears to be the most successful, so try that if you can.

I haven't tried the PHPmyadmin method a go yet. So yep. I'll give that a go now.

Suggestion: Can you try signing up for a free wordpress.com blog? I think that might be helpful if determining whether this is a site specific problem or whether it's something to do with your computer.

Changing the theme back to its original didn't work.

I've got 3 sites running the same theme and all are updated to Wp 3.1..
Yet only the one website is giving me these issues.

I've also just gone to another computer and checked the sites from there, but still found the same problem.

I've signed up for a WordPress Blog and I've got it importing the settings and files now.

    Hi guys.

    SOLVED!

Okay, this is an unusual one, and I firstly need to explain something.

Recently I was having issues with wordpress not updating. I was getting a PHP memory error.
To solve this, I needed to add the following line to the htaccess file.

    # set memory limit for cache.php
    php_value memory_limit 32M

Many of you will already be familiar with this "fix"

Now... for some reason, I put a copy of the .htaccess file in the wp-includes folder.

THIS is what was causing ALL of my issues.

I deleted the file, and VOILA! all is now returned to normal.

I appreciate everyones help with this, and hope my solution can help someone else.
    Cheers guys.
