• All of WordPress install seems to be working OK – however, when i try to upload an image through WordPress I get the error message:

“Unable to create directory /home/.sites/106/site857/web/notices/wp-content/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

The WordPress install directory = http://www.stmaryoftheangels.org.uk/notices and the directory structure on the webserver for the wordpress install is: ‘/web/notices/wp-content’

All permissions are fine and the FTP account I use can create directories and files in this directory (I checked myself through FTP client) – permissions 755 in the ‘uploads’ directory.

The weird thing is the path – note the leading ‘/home/.sites/106/site857/’ before the web folder. Now in the Settings/Miscellaneous I have ‘wp-content/uploads’ in the Store Uploads field and the URL field is left blank (and I have tried various combinations in these settings without success). Some combinations get rid of the weird leading ‘/home/.sites/106/site857/’ in the error message.

    Can anyone help?

OK – after I looked at it it isn’t just an issue with Media but also Plug-ins and virtually anything that relates to the WP-content directory. Almost as if the path for this directory is wrong, even though the Settings/Misc value is correct? Can anyone help or do I need to re-install WordPress?

CHMOD your media upload directory to 777 and your problem should be fixed.
