    Hey, people.

I guess a lot of you have used either the Textile or Markdown plugins for WordPress to write/edit your posts.

Which one would you recommend over the other, and why? Also, are there any problems caused by using either plugin?

Also, if I use either plugin, and one fine day decide to not use them, or use something else, will it affect the formatting of all my posts?

Thank you for reading this. Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

Personally I'm having VERY inconvenient plugin conflicts arising from using non-standard formatting plugins like TextControl, so my feeling is that if you can stay away from them, do.

So what do you recommend? Using the in-built TinyMCE editor? Personally, I didn't like it too much. What would you suggest as an alternative?

The good old (html) editor in the WP - not the tinymce. With a few customized quicktags it makes wonders :)

Customized quicktags? Would you please elaborate?

Personally, I like Markdown, and have never had any problems or conflicts with it, but I'm sure I don't do as much as some with their WordPress installs. I don't know much about Textile though.

I like Markdown. I think it's syntax is more intuitive than Textile's and looks better without the formatting applied. I also like the footnote links.
