Mapped domain redirects to derictory (11 posts)

    Hello,

I set up the domain mapping plugin and parked a subdomain to which i want to map a network site. However, when i enter a subdomain url it only redirects to a network site changing the url.

For example sub.domain.com redirects to domain.com/sub/ but i want it to remain sub.domain.com while reading the contents of domain.com/sub/

Hope this is clear enough, thanks in advance.

    If you have

Disable primary domain check. Sites will not redirect to one domain name. May cause duplicate content issues.
checked, DM doesn't redirect to the mapped domain.

    Thanks,

I tried with that option checked as well as unchecked and nothing changed.

When I created a parked sub-domain it set-up a redirect to a sub directory. But when I disable that redirect from c-panel the sub-domain instead of reading contents from wordpress network site reads it from the main domain.

  4. The subdomain will still be shown in the source with this plugin.

If you want it hidden completely, the only other plugin I kow that will do this is paid.

That sounds like a host config issue. If you post what host you are with someone may recognize the host and be familiar with how to configure your web server with that host.

Ron: My host is webhostingpad. They already told me that don't support wildcard domains, maybe they don't support this feature as well.

Andrea: But I do want my subdomain shown, right now it just shows subdirectory even after mapping a subdomain to it. Would you please tell me the name of that paid plugin and where can I get it.

    Thanks guys!

Both Andrea & I are at the same WordCamp. I was hoping someone else familiar with your host would pop in. I haven't heard of that host before.

You have to be able to create a domain alias (park in cPanel) in your webserver configuration.

I already created a parked sub-domain but it still shows sub-category as an url instead of that sub-domain name.

Could you please ask Andrea what is the name of that paid plugin maybe it will help me.

    Good luck with conference guys.

  11. Well he turned around and pointed at the screen. ;)

FOrum policy is to not pimp out paid links, so you'll need to google for "professional domain mapping"
