    Is it just me or you can't see some replies at some topics? A search results in a relevant topic, but the topic begins with a post like "Hey great solution, thanks!" with obviously a few post gone!

    No, it isn't you helton. I have had the same problem in some posts.

    Mind you, it is hard to see the post at all sometimes with these pink elephants walking all over the place.

    [You CAN see the the pink elephants too right???]

    It's the Post Gnomes. They're a wacky bunch who wander around message boards like this and collect posts. I haven't seen them, but I have seen their plans.

    Step 1. Collect Posts
    Step 2. ?
    Step 3. Profit!

    It seems there was a small problem when the software was altered.
    If you are trying to track down a particular issue, just repost or indicate the location of the missing post and I'll see if I can help find it.

    i'm trying to find out how to fix displaying garbage characters that appear instead of quotes and double quotes inside the posts (or to suppress smart quotes at all), and also why can't I update my template (permission correct, etc). Thank you for your help!

    btw, shadow... the elephants are deep purple...gasp!! ;)

    Update template - how are you editing it, and do you have your wp files in a different directory to your index.php ?

    Garbage chars - are you writing your posts in a word-processor then pasting them into WP ? If so, I believe the solution is to first paste them into Notepad (or better still, just don't use a word-processor to write the entries).

    Update template - wp is in /wp/ index.php is in root
    Garbage chars - No, even when I write and enter correct keyboard vanilla characters, what is shown on the site are 'smart' quotes.. :\ I've even changed the admin .css fonts to all courier so there's no mistake by chance... but still smart quotes appear.

    tempalte: nothing that I can think of... but I'm uploading via FTP anyway, just thought it should update via WordPress just as well

    Chars: utf-8! template required this meta :
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
    that fixed it. Thanks! :)
