I'm completely new to this wordpress thing. I followed the instructions to uploading a theme manually. I added it to the wp-content-themes folder in my FTP site. Uploaded it. But when I go on wordpress.com I don't see them active on the appearance-themes panel. Any newbie help would be appreciated it.

Do you mean your self host wordpress or wordpress.com as you can not install themes in wordpress.com.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure to be honest. I installed them through the FTP Site. What exactly is a self host wordpress? I have hosting with go daddy.com

Self host site is that you install your self on Go Daddy just uploading using ftp is not going to work you need to install by creating a database and running install program.
