Hi,
My web designer has built my WordPress site but has installed a Paypal only shopping basket - what plugin can I get which will enable my customers to either pay through Paypal or manually through their credit/debit cards.
I hope this is possible!
Thanks
Brendan
You can pay via credit cards at Paypal.

Yes, you can. But on the site I've got you've got to pay with them through paypal - which means you have to join Paypal to do it - not a good idea when you want to make it as easy as possible to pay. Most sites give you a choice between paying through Paypal or manually with your card - that's the plugin I'm looking for.
Many thanks
What control do you have on what is sent to paypal? If you don't send the customers email address the pay by credit card is more prominent.
But look at the other eshop/ecommerce plugins that are available if what you have doesn't suit your needs.

Umm don't think I quite understand that - basically to pay now the customer has to join Paypal - I'd rather not make them do that.
Another option (somewhat easier!) is to simply say if you don't want to pay by Paypal then phone me.
But how to I do a really simple thing like insert text in the page - I've looked in the manual, in The Dummies book etc. and all seem to assume a vaste knowledge I don't possess - I'd hoped my web desgner would have helpewd me but he didn't and he's gone.
So is there anyone out there who can tell me with little or no jargon how to do it (I read somewhere that if the designer put in HTML text I have to too - what does this mean and how do I do it????!!!!)
Any help grweatly appreciated!
Brendan
The PAYPAL CHECKOUT feature does not require they have or create a Paypal account. Look at your Paypal payment page and see if there is a link that says:
Pay with debit or credit card
If you don't have a PayPal account
or they will get a page that says:
Pay with credit card or Login
Which if they don't login and just fill out the checkout info there is no account.
I think this is enabled now by default.

I'm afraid my Paypal page doesn't give any options other than logging in to Paypal or joining Paypal : maybe I'm missing something - please have a look on my site - it's http://thaimassageforall.com.
I think my web designer who is no longer with us got the bog basic version.
Any thoughts most welcome.

You need to contact Paypal on this one. Possibly its because you are not in the US but they can tell you for sure.
Otherwise you will need to use an Internet CC Processor like 2checkout or one of the others. You can't do direct to bank on the Internet for credit cards just so you know.
I think it is because you are using a Paypal Shopping Cart. So they are making you signup to Paypal to pay. You could ask them, but I don't know if you'll get any joy.
Alternatively look at some of the ecommerce plugins, eShop, WP ecommerce Yak etc.

Thank you, but Paypal on their site says that on their basic package the client should have the choice - very confusing - I tried to email/talk to Paypal but impossible even though their site is littered with invitations to do so.
All a bit ewxhausting and the last thing I need when starting a company!
Cheers
Brendan
When you log into paypal. There is a contact US link. Use the email. They get back within a day. Or I uess you can just keep bitching and guessing......

Instead of suggesting solutions that don't actually solve his problem, why don't you actually answer his original question? You are seriously wasting his time by making him do useless things that don't ultimately help him or get him around his problem. Anyway...
I believe that YAK does the what you are looking for, that is, give customer the option to pay via Paypal or in a separate manner while still on your site pay with a credit card (by manually inputting their CC info) on your site, and then you can go in and process that card on your own? Am I right? The only problem I foresee is that you would have to install an entirely different shopping cart system in the process.
