Managing Pages page too long (1 post)

The managing blog page splits up the number of entries so you can scroll through several pages, but the "managing pages" does not. On my site I already have over 300 pages and it times out when I want to go back and edit something (I still have hundreds more pages to add for a training course I made!). All these pages are in subcategories, so it would make it a lot easier to access subpages if only top-level categories were displayed and clicking on them to access another list of subpages. Is there a plug-in or alternative code to write?
I think splitting the pages up like it does in managing blogs would be ok too.
The search term works, however, since most of my pages begin with "Lesson" it's hard to see which categories they're under as those aren't listed in the search results.
    Thanks in advance.
