    Hi Guys.

Basically I have edited a wp template that I downloaded, and added things like pages, html, menus, changed some ccs and some of the php. I have been using MAMP to do all this, with the localserver, and I was happy with my end result and it all worked fine.

I then moved the wp folder over to my hoster, and set up a new database. Upon checking the site, I was presented with the originial template I downloaded and a lack of the changes I had made, other than the ccs I altered was still as I had changed it. I read about moving the database files over to the new db as well, so I did that too, and now it says cannot connect to 'localhost' - like it has carried over the settings as well from my MAMP database/files.

My main question really is what am I doing wrong with the MAMP to live server conversion? Is there anything I am missing. I have checked the wp website and also some others, but I don't really see anything about this there.

    Thanks

you'll have to modify the site URL and wordpress URL options.

    Hi Guys,

I'm a total wordpress rookie and have a questions about getting the site live. I have downloaded WP, templates etc which i am working on, it is situated locally on:

    http://localhost:8888/onemadworld.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

I want to know if I can make the site live without paying for hosting like I was before downloading the software (using the http://www.sitename.wordpress.com url)? Is this possible?

    Thanks so much :)

    Rooks
