  • Hi guys

Using the Arthemia premium theme and when im showing excerpts of posts there is a … at the end of each post, i want this … to be a link to that whole post in its category. Like a “click to read full story” link like i have in the headline section…anyone know how to do this?

    Regards

  • I think your theme uses the_excerpt instead of the_content? You can use the latter and “customise the read-more“. Alternatelly you can use a plugin. I use the plugin Excerpt Editor which is nicely flexible.

    Hi Gangleri

I have checked out both the options but both dont suit…

Id like to keep excerpts as even though im familiar with the HTML side my colleagues of mine wont

Is there a way to keep excerpts and still make the … a link to a full post?

Sorry, not sure what you mean. When you use the Excerpt Editor for example, you can choose to make any new post into an excerpt ending with the text “continue reading” (or whatever you choose) and of course that text is linked. Your colleagues don’t have to do anything but writing posts.

Really? I didnt spot that, where abouts is that?

Make sure your theme has the_content! For the rest the plugin speaks for itself (but I had to get used to it too). Under “auto generate” you can choose the text, for example ‘continue reading’ with or without post title. Of course you have to work through all the screens. You can choose to have all post excerpted, all on the index but full posts in the archives or for example the first post in full and the rest excerpted. Just fool around a little with the plugin.
