I am trying to get my entire picture to appear completely with being cropped.
But when I go to media settings and remove the option to crop what happens is that the picture decreases in height but keeps the same width making it disproportional.
So what I want to do is try and force the container to become longer to accommodate the image within.

Have you tried inserting a width in your media settings but leaving the height blank, and see what happens? I haven't ever played with this myself, but perhaps worth a shot?

I tried what you suggested but unfortunately what it does is it forces the image to resize to the container's height instead of the other way around.
But thanks for the reply.
