  • Exactly how you do this depends upon your hosting.
    Most likely you can password protect a directory in your .htaccess file.
    It is also likely that you are using cPanel.

    For cPanel, in the SECURITY section you will find “Password Protect Directories”, now put a username and password on your website base directory. Now you will need to give your browser the username and password to access your website. You can tell your browser to remember these, but the rest of the world is locked out.

    If you dont use cPanel, then you can put the required settings into .htaccess, ask here if you need more help.
