Make Files and Folders Available Outside WordPress (2 posts)

    Hi,

As part of a portfolio, I want to make several different folders, subfolders and files available outside of wordpress.

I have created the directory in my webhost's public_html folder, but when I try to access the file, WordPress gives me a 404 error. This is where I have currently uploaded a test file: http://www.mysite.com/portfolio/file.txt

How can I tell WordPress to allow my folders to be accessed publicly, without WordPress being involved.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Seth.

This is a bit like saying "How can I drive my car around the block without actually driving my car?"

If you need to tell WordPress something, then WordPress is involved. So I think this is more of a server issue than a WordPress issue.

Are you able to access that file via a direct link in a browser?
