[resolved] Major header problems (1 post)

Hey everyone. I'm having some problems with the header image on my blog (actually one I'm doing for a friend), http://www.divinenobodies.com/blog/

I modified this popular template to have the header image stretch over the maintext and the sidebar (previously, it was only across the maintext). I couldn't quite figure out why when I did this the image over-lapped the content on the page, especially since I put it in the header div. Anyway, I *gasp* solved the problem by using <br> tags.

This works in firefox but pushes the content WAY down the page in IE. Can someone please help me? I know part of the problem lies in that this template doesn't have a background property in the header div, instead, I just put the pic under the blog title and description. I'm new to php and couldn't figure out how to get the background:url(blah blah blah) to work.

Sorry for the length of the post and thanks in advance for your help.
