Maintenance mode when my core files are in a sub folder (6 posts)

My WP core files are stored in a subfolder of my root
    (i.e. mysite.com/subfolder)
and it's setup so that it appears online on the root of my site
    (i.e. mysite.com)
I've used the trick on the GENERAL panel to point the subfolder to the root of my site. That way, my root is clean and can host multiple sites without too much chaos.

I am using a Maintenance Mode plugin so that the site doesn't appear online when I'm doing its maintenance. The plugin works except I, the admin, cannot see the frontend when the site is on maintenance. I've tried two plugins so far: "WP Maintenance Mode" and "Maintenance Mode". Both failed to show the frontend eventhough I am looged as an admin.

Do you know if there's a trick?
    Thanks!

I'd suggest using this method to give WP its own sub-folder and then simply adding an index.html file to your root folder with an appropriate maintenance message.

Yes, that is exactly what I did to set my site up.
Still, while on maintenance mode... I need to see the content of my site...

    Just navigate to mysite.com/subfolder

nope, the content of the site is not visible. you can only see the framework (menus, header, footer, but no content).
    I know it sounds weird...

I am experiencing the same problem as in2sky.
    Any solutions?
