I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks!
Actions prior to problem:
- Installed and activated "HTML Page Sitemap"
- Created new page on site named "sitemap"
- Installed and activated "Google XML Sitemaps"
- submitted /sitemap.xml to google
Problem I am experiencing:
- when typing in the url of my website I am automatically redirected to the sitemap.html. I don't want my website address (www.website.com) redirected to http://www.mywebsite.com/sitemap.html.
Why is this happening? How do I fix it? Please and thanks!
Have you tried:
- deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
- switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Hi Esmi - thanks for your response.
I deactivated the redirection plugin I was using and am no longer experiencing the redirection issue.
Hmm, hope this doesn't mean that now I have to learn how to do redirections manually without a plugin :S

update: found post at http://urbangiraffe.com/support/topic/home-page-is-redirecting-to-another-wp-page-without-my-instruction-to-do-so
Reactivated redirection plugin and followed someones advice there:
"If you go, from the Redirections settings menu, click on [Groups] then [Modified posts] you'll probably see a 301 in there for just "/". Remove it. "
so far its working okay.
