Hi all I really hope you can help me, I run a music website running the latest WordPress (3.01 at time of writing this). I added a page yesterday and as soon as I had added it, the main page now automatically redirects to it for some strange reason. I have never had this problem before.

My blog address is http://discoscratch.co.uk it is self hosted on fxdomains. I have never had this issue before and I have spent at least a couple of hours looking over forums and examining my settings.

I tried removing the page and deleting the folder using an ftp client but now it still redirects to the shop page ( http://discoscratch.co.uk/shop ) to a 404 error page.

Really mega stuck with this and can't see a solution... I've been running wordpress sites for a couple of year now and I'm pretty good with them in general. I have the redirection plugin installed which does exactly as I require and there are no mistaken redirects there.

Many thanks in advance to anyone that can help!

    Hi,
It sounds like you've looked around pretty well. When I have something this odd, it's often because I have a friendly URL that happens to match a foldername in my system.

Example: if I make a page whose URL becomes discoscratch.com/news, and I happen to also have a folder named /news in the file system, WP will be borked, and 404's will result.

Beyond that, I don't know, maybe your redirect app would need examining to see if it's doing something you didn't expect.

    Good luck, Dave

Redirect plugins or static front pages can cause this.

This happened to me. The Redirection plugin is adding a new entry in the wp_ftnnm1_redirection_items table every time I create a new post. I have manually deleted the row each time. This has happened twice since I upgraded WordPress to 3.0.1. Hoping for a fix ...

I've had the same issue with a static front page.

I'm also having the same issue and the only thing that works is disabling the plugin. Anyone find a workaround?

I'd suggest using Simple 301 Redirects until this issue is resolved. It's basically an identical plugin, sans the monitoring.
