Like others here this is my first blog. I managed to get it installed okay, but have a simple question about bogging. I can set up different categories and have them post in the category section and pull them up by clicking on the category link - Yes? But the main page reflects ALL entries no matter where they are? If I want to make a post rather than a page or a category, can I control where it goes?
Thanks very much for taking the time to answer my question.
Nope. You'll need to modify your theme or install a plugin to selectively show certain posts on the main blog page.
I have the aspire theme. About page is "sticky" and you have to go to categories to choose your interest. Only thing I can't work out are the posts. Where do they go?
... I don't actually understand what you are asking now... But to clarify my previous statement, all blog posts appear on the main blog page. ALL. You need a 'plugin' to stop this from happening, or you need to modify your theme. I doubt that you'll be modifying your theme, since you are new to all of this. So you might try a plugin.
Plugins can be found at: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/
If I haven't answered your questions, your best bet is to check out the WordPress documentation. It's pretty good. I've coded at least 50 themes, and I still use it. :-)
