main multisite interfering with addon sites on godaddy's shared hosting (12 posts)

All the add-on domains' pages like in http://addondomain.com/page is redirecting to my main site (http://mainsite.com/wp-signup.php?new=addondomain.com). Please help!

Please note that mainsite.com is a WP multisite.

How can I avoid this problem?

    More:
I am using Godaddy's shared hosting with unlimited domains. So there is a maindomain directory under which all the other sites are residing as subdirectories.

    Please help!

  2. Were they working before?

    What changed?

WP Multisite and sites within its network are working fine. However the addon domains which are not related to the MU are not redirecting to the main site as mentioned above. Only their homepages work (NOT the internal pages or posts).

Thanks for taking out time and helping me.

  4. Well... My GUESS is the addons are pointing not to their own location but to mainsite.com.

I use an addon (helf.us) which points to /home/me/public_html/helf.us/

All my wildcard subdoains point to /home/me/public_html/

Make sure that your addon is pointing to it's own folder and that the folder exists.

Addon is pointing to its own location. Their homepage (subdomain.domain.com) is opening. But the inner posts/pages are not.

Please NOTE that my site is on Windows shared hosting. I believe some I need to modify the rewrite rules in web.config.. but not too sure so scared to take any chance.

  6. Windows... And all my expertise walked out the door.

Their homepage (subdomain.domain.com) is opening. But the inner posts/pages are not.

Wait, is this subdomain.domain.com or subdomain.ADDON.com?

    Oh Sorry! My Mistake.

Wait, is this subdomain.domain.com or subdomain.ADDON.com?

    It is subdomain.ADDON.com/inner-page-or-post AND ADDON.com/inner-page-or-post.

  8. *scratch*

In Apache/Linux, I know this works just fine. Have you asked GoDaddy why the addon isn't pointing to it's own location? They would be the experts here?

(Mind you, my general advice with WP is while Windows works, Linux works better.)

Mika, I am so thankful for taking time to write on this.
Godaddy, sends me their documented steps to create subdomain, pointing them to directory, etc. Come on! You must check what the problem is basically not just send steps as if a robot is responding reading a few keywords in email. Crap!

Mind you, my general advice with WP is while Windows works, Linux works better.

I am a .net guy. So wanted to take windows hosting and also use the advantages of WordPress. So I had to take Windows hosting.

But thanks for your time! Let me check what I can do. Will post the resolution once I get it.

  10. Are these wildcard addon subdomains or manual?

    It is subdomain.ADDON.com/inner-page-or-post AND ADDON.com/inner-page-or-post.
    These are manual.

  12. jamesg40's post was removed because he's going around to multiple posts bashing on GoDaddy. Just no, okay. Stop it. NOT cool.

Is the main site subdomains or subfolders as well?
