  • Hey Baweibel —

Can you give us some more information on the error message that you saw?

Also, who’s the host for your site?

    Cheers,
    Nate

    Hi Nate:
I’ve rolled it back so I can’t tell you exactly, except that it said “fatal error.” I’m hosted with Media Temple on a VPS.

Hi Nate: I waited until I upgraded to WP 3.6.1 and then tried again. Same problem. Plugin installs OK, but then sends a fatal error upon attempting to reactivate. I’ve rolled back again, but this time I copied the error for you:

Plugin failed to reactivate due to a fatal error.
Warning: require_once(miniMCAPI.class.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/vhosts/holeinthedonut.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 38 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘miniMCAPI.class.php’ (include_path=’.:’) in /var/www/vhosts/holeinthedonut.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 38

Hope you can help. Thanks so much.

    Hi,

I’ve got the same problem as well when upgrading to WordPress 3.6.x

    Error message is:

Warning: require_once(miniMCAPI.class.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 38 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘miniMCAPI.class.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php’) in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 38

    Hey all,

Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear about the issues that you’re seeing with connecting the plugin. So that we can begin to isolate the issue a bit further, are you able to try connecting to the same MailChimp accounts through a different browser? If the same error occurs, are you able to try connecting the accounts from a different computer, and if possible a different network? In perhaps finding a working environment in one of these situations, we can then work to narrow down what might be causing the issue.

    Look forward to hearing back!

Hi mc-tak. Not sure I understand what you want us to do. Use a different browser to upgrade and see if it will allow the latest version of the plugin to reactivate? My problem is that the plugin won’t activate after upgrading. If I roll back to the earlier version, it works fine, so it doesn’t seem to be in any way related to browser, computer, or network, though I can say that I’ve tried three times and each time was on a different network in a different country, if that helps.

    Hey Barbara and timeflask,

Thanks for replying! I believe I misread your initial posts, my apologies. My interpretation was that you were having trouble with the login step after the plugin is already activated, but in reading again the issue is actually with the plugin activation. Thank you for the clarification.

This issue is definitely a bit odd, as I can confirm on my test setup that I’m using the latest version of the plugin with WordPress 3.6.1, so there doesn’t appear to be an immediate conflict with just the two versions there.

In taking a look at the errors posted, it looks like the activation process is trying to access the miniMCAPI.class.php file but failing. I went ahead and took a look at the line of code referenced in the error message in my local setup, and I’m seeing that the above error is indicative of a previous version’s code, rather than this most recent one, which is definitely strange.

So that we can ensure there were no issues in the previous upgrade/installation process, I’d recommend trying a clean manual install of the plugin. To do this, first delete the plugin from the Plugins area in wp-admin. Once done, double-check on your server that the “mailchimp” folder has been removed from the “/wp-content/plugins/” directory.

Once that’s been confirmed, download the plugin zip file from our page here:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/mailchimp/installation/

and follow the installation instructions there to manually install the plugin. Once that’s been done, try activating the plugin again. If you’re still seeing the same error, please post back here letting us know.

Thanks for your cooperation and helpful details thus far!

mc-tak – did as you requested. Deactivated and uninstalled the old version. Downloaded the new version and FTP’d it up. When I tried to activate it showed a fatal error:

Warning: require_once(miniMCAPI.class.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/vhosts/holeinthedonut.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 38 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘miniMCAPI.class.php’ (include_path=’.:’) in /var/www/vhosts/holeinthedonut.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 38

Rolled back to previous version again.

    Hey baweibel,

Thanks for the reply! Sorry to hear that the issue is still occurring. So that we can troubleshoot this issue a bit further, we’ll be reaching out to you directly by email to get a bit more information. We’ll be using the email address associated with the comment on the WordPress plugin blog post that you submitted, so you can expect an email there.
