magazine archive .. issue or month based ..how to ?! (6 posts)

    Hi ..

    I would like to make magazine with wp, but can wp do such archiving ... the main links or sections will display the articles related to the selected issue ...

    I mean .. the 1st page links will show the new issue articles ... but if user selected old issue ,, the same links will display the old articles ... How to ??

    I hope some could catch the idea ;)

    WP doesn't really work like that.
    There were several attempts to use it for a magazine (just search for "magazine") there are even themes to give a 'newspaper' look... but you have to work with the feature built into WP - like categories.

    WP is still a personal blogging tool and not meant to handle that kind of magazine format with issues etc.

    It's easy to make magazine issues with WordPress. WP is designed for projects like this, that update over time.

    You can make each "issue" of your magazine into either: a category, or a page, or a single-post with hand made links indexing all the related articles. There are many plugins that will help with other aspects of archiving your print-publication content.

    Don't let anyone try to tell you that WP is inflexible and only useful for 1 purpose.

    CampSite .. its like the hell to install .. didnt knwo even how to install on localhost winxp to test :/
    I can write plugin to add issue number to the db .. and in the post page will be selected the issue..
    in the db will be table called issues include :
    id, issuenumber, postid,categoryid,status,date
    but how to force the links to use the issue ... I don
    t know ^^
