Mac Mini Server Running multiple WP sites and i'm trying to add a new one-Newbie

My initial dive into wordpress was setup by another person for my first two sites. They used Text Wrangler for editing the WP-Config and Navicat for setting up the connection and databases.

I’ve created the site folder on my mac mini server and added the wordpress installation files to the root directory for the new site.

I’ve edited the wp-config.php file with the DB name and user.

I went into Navicat and made sure it was connecting to the local host (as I also made minor changes to the data in my other wordpress sites) and then created a new database. However, i can’t seem to get the database to talk to the folder and recognize my tables.

I’d like to maintain my current setup as it works great once the site is running but I have a hard time finding info on OSX with Navicat as everything seems to be MAMP.
