The sidebar section and the Text widget option are missing from the admin panel -- yet the sidebar and the current text widget appears on the live site with no problem. Interestingly, it takes awhile longer for that Widgets page to load in admin than for other sections (plugins, etc) -- How do I get the full Widgets page back in the Admin panel? (I tried changing themes back and forth - it does not show up in any theme.) Thanks for your help.

Are the themes you are using "setup for widgets"( may need to make widget ready )
Is this happening in twenty eleven or twenty twelve themes?

The Widget panel worked fine when I set it up a week or so ago - added a text widget - it published fine. Today, went back to that admin page and the right sidebar (its only sidebar) was not there -- nor were the Text or other default widgets -- only some I had installed. Yet the sidebar and text widget still showed on the live site. I just activated twenty twelve theme, and the sidebar and text widget still are missing -- plus, when publishing, the right sidebar no longer shows on the live site. Yet when I go back to orignal theme, the sidebar and widgets reappear on the live site -- but STILL are not on the admin page, so cannot add or change anything. The URL (this is in very beginning stages; nothing posted yet) is http://writers-editors.com/blog/ - if that helps.

Problem solved -- my host support narrowed it down to some plugin causing it. So one-by-one I reactivated the plugins, and the culprit was Google Analyticator -- I'll have to figure out if I had it set up wrong or whether it's the plugin itself -- but for now, it'sw deactivated, and the sidebar options in admin magically have reappeared.
