   I installed a couple of theme preview plugins. I used both to preview a new theme, then deactivated the preview. Now I lost my whole sidebar. I never activated the new theme to avoid this exact problem. Do I have to re-do the whole sidebar? The prevew plugin I used was Theme Switch and Theme Test Drive

   Try switching to the default theme and then switching back to your previous theme.

   No - you shouldn't lose anything.

   I backed up the data just before I did a preview. Does that include sidebar setting?

   Yes, it does but first have you tried re-uploading a fresh copy of your theme?
