I'm brand new to WordPress. My daughter is helping me build my website, since she has more experience than I do. I've lost my HTML and Visual options in my page editor and have no idea how to fix it. The text appears on the page, but there is code on the page as well making it difficult to make changes. Can someone out there give me some advice?

Have you tried:
- deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
- switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks for your response. I'm happy to say that I've fixed the problem. I was advised to go to the Users tab, under profiles, and I unchecked the "disable the visual editor when writing" box. My visual editor came back.
