I had a former staff person mess with templates last week and discovered that we have lost the ability to log in and the whole index is messed up. I've tried to restore the index.php but still get a messedup page.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - we can not log in there either so does this mean my blog is 'infected'? and if so where might that problem be?

    Any ideas would be great.

The log-in could be you site was hacked or is "infected" it could also be that someone really messed up your settings while logged in. The vile pop-up makes me think your site has been hacked - a lot of that going around.

Here are some links that others have found to help with hacked sites.

There are some other threads that have dealt with resetting the log-in through your MySql database so that you can get back into your site - sorry I did not save them.

Good luck and be careful out there.

Well we reloaded the entire WP folders with a brand new set of files aafter deleting all of them - still had the same issue - so we purged the database and it os fine. Something inside the database was the issue - we have a copy of it and have turned it over to some e-security folks to play with. Basically they have indicted the database had been hacked and was pushing harmful script.

And the service provider is now implementing new security measures - the hack came from a vulnerability they had.
