Not last night but the night before last was there some sort of change? The administration bar on my posts (when i am logged in, etc) disappeared on my install. On my friend’s site, totally different host, setup, etc., hers all of a suddent went totally whack, plugins behaving opposite, etc. Neither of us had made any changes that we recall. i went in and hit save on my general settings and my user setup because i know sometimes if i do that it will fix things, but nothing. Any insight? I know this is a vague & therefore lame question, but I have really no information.

No, a new version of WordPress hasn’t been released for about a month, though maybe a plugin you use updated and caused the problems.

Are you currently running WordPress 3.9.1 or one of the alpha 4.0 builds?

If you’re on 3.9.1, try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.
