Lost and Confused with WordPress install on Bluehost (8 posts)

I recently installed WordPress on my bluehost account using their "simpleScripts" (aka I clicked three times and it installed). Then I made the MySQL and FTP accounts. But when I went into my directory (I use Firezilla) it was empty, and things I upload into there do not appear on my site. Is it under a different FTP account that is included in the wordpress install? How can I find my wordpress install folder so I can upload stylesheets and such.

Also, I am using the Comicpress theme with the Comicpress manager, if that makes any difference. Please help!

WordPress does not use FTP nor create FTP accounts for your hosting package. You need to check your root folder for the FTP account you are uploading with to see the path of the uploaded files. Also, what are you uploading via FTP for WordPress? I hope this helps!

If you installed wordpress you do not need to create MySQL as the simplescript did that for you.

Ftp is a program we install on computer and use to transfer files and folder to server or from server.

Your theme Comicpress if installed will be wp-content/themes folder and you can manage you theme with in wordpress admin panel.

When you create an FTP account in a cPanel setup it will automatically select the directory for you. If you didn't update that directory, then chances are that you created your FTP account to go to the wrong location so, while your FTP connects properly, it doesn't connect to the proper location.

Try deleting your FTP account, then re-create it and, this time, be sure to make sure your directory for your FTP account is going to the same place that your WordPress is installed in.

If WordPress is installed by script, you already have it in MySQL database. If Bluehost does not give you access to install directory, you can install FileManager plugin for basic file management in your WordPress dir and use Theme and Plugin editors in admin panel.

I did a search of their helpdesk, and here are the links to wordpress and you could type in simplescripts too. You might just call, chat or send them a ticket from their main page. https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/search?sort=&search=wordpress&x=0&y=0&search_all=1&search_kb=1&search_video=1&search_started=1
