• I just upgraded to 3.0.4 and in doing so I lost the Amazon.com banner that was above my theme Twenty Ten!!!

Anyone have any idea 1)where it went 2) how I might get it back or 3) be able to revert back to 3.0.3?

It cost me $75 to have it installed because I have no clue how to do that and I don’t want to have to pay that much again.

    Thanks.

  • Don’t edit the Twenty Ten theme! Your changes will be over-written the next time you upgrade WordPress or the theme. For this reason, it is recommended that you consider creating a child theme for your customisations.

Hey esmi……I looked at “child theme”, and as usual, I came away thinking…’HUH’! I do not understand stuff like this although I have learned to insert codes in the Header, etc when I am told exactly where to put it.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I will cough up another $75 if necessary and ask if the programmer will show me where to place it if/when this happens again.

That’s a heck of a lot for a simple ad banner! You’d be better off asking them to create a child theme for you. It shouldn’t cost any more, in my opinion.

Ha!!…….no joke, but I know they are good and someone offered to do it for @20 but it looked suspicious. If you know anyone cheaper, let me know.

And yes, I will definitely check into the child theme….that’s a good idea. I should have looked at the header after they installed it the first time and found where they inserted the code…..duh!, too late now.

    Thanks for your efforts esmi.

I’d say that $50 – 75 is about right for creating a child theme – although for a simple child theme, the lower end of that range would be more appropriate in my opinion. Anything that’s a lot lower should be treated with suspicion. At the end of the day, you only get what you pay for. 🙂

Good, thanks. I’m going to look at the child theme creation one more time and then get in touch with them tomorrow if I am still dazed.
