Hello,
For some volunteer work, I'm working with a non-profit group to modernize their website (i.e. get them into using a CMS rather than using Dreamweaver). Their actual needs are fairly modest so a wrangled version of WordPress almost suits them just fine. I'm trying to figure out my approach to the tricky part of the site, and would love to here if people have any suggestions.
-First of all the NPG writes two series of regular articles (Series X & Series Y). They would like a preview of the latest article in both of these series to show up on their homepage.
-Secondly, the NPG would like a “Latest News & Events” section to display on their homepage.
-Third, the NPG already has a blog- which they would like to move into WP and have a preview of the latest blog entry appear on their homepage.
My “thought of the solution in 10 seconds” solution is to put everything into the blog and just manage the different content types with categories and RSS feeds. I’d love it if someone could suggest a solution that might keep Series X, Series Y, and the News & Events out of the blog.
Thanks.
P.S. I know other CMSs are ideal for this sort of thing, but when it comes down to it, I would either be reigning in something like Drupal into working for them or extending WP...and I’d prefer to start with an more user-friendly environment than worrying about having to create one.
