Looking for Specific Type of Theme (3 posts)

Hey, I'm new to WordPress, and I am looking for a rather specific type of theme for my website.

I want one similar to the one that digital-photography-school.com uses, with the main page not containing the blog posts. The main page will have something like they have, an index. I have more than one topic that

I am going to be writing about, and if you know of a theme/could find a theme close to what I am talking about, that would be great!

    Thanks

Note that the contents of the front page is not theme-derived but is changed from Settings - Reading - Front page displays. From there you can set any page you've created from Pages as your homepage. Some themes create home page templates, but this isn't necessary for just html. However, for something along the lines of "Digital Photography School" you're going to want to create that home page template (see the Codex) yourself to get what you want (they hired a WP-guru).

As a n00b (I even use the word) I cannot really help you out. Based on the answer given by bsutcliffe, I think you can get a long way by looking at the source of the site you like. Pherhaps you could even import it into frontpage (see, I am a n00b) to get a closer look at the lay-out they used. As far as I understand it now, you can simply make a frontpage, and add some what I call 'sidebar-tools' that display the latest and hottest posts per category, and then drop that into those nifty <DIV>-boxes.

I must say though, that if you are as lousy as I am, you would probably do best in finding a friendly pro to help you with that!
