Looking for advice on ecommerce blog design/styling (1 post)

    Hello,

As the launch of my website draws near, a WordPress blog sits idling on a sub domain while I struggle to figure out the most effective design.

Does an ecommerce blog need to be an exact match of the website? I've heard & read differing opinions, so maybe you guys can cut through the haze.

Making the blog look the same as the website in most areas (Upper navigation bar, header, background image and maybe the same footer) is great, but I think a blog should look like a blog in the text field area. Is there a need for the left hand navigation from the website to be a part of the blog since links will be leading back to pages of the website anyway?

Personally as a consumer I'm more impressed when I land on a blog that looks like time and effort went into its construction. But, that's just my opinion and my opinion means nothing at all, it's FAR more important to focus on what's the wisest solution for an ecommerce website.

There’s also a company wiki sitting idle on another webhost and its content will grow after the website launches. Just in case the wiki adds another dimension to the blog topic I thought I should mention it.

    Thanks!
