If there someplace in the documentation that describes RSS and how to use it with WordPress. I'm looking for something that starts at the beginning.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Here's my WordPress blog:

    HERE

at the bottom of the page are the two 'feed' links.
    try them out.

    No matter what I do.
No matter where I look on this site, and where I search in this site.
wordpress NEVER EVER EVER EVER generates an RSS or atom feed.
Now before you make any assumptions about my programming ability:

Maybe you can tell me when RSS aggregators started reading .PHP files?
When you mouse over any other 'RSS' button in any other blog on the planet...
the status at the bottom of your browser shows the extension: '.xml'
    right?
    yes.

do a search at this site for 'RSS problem'
and look at the incredible stack of posts. And also please look at what the replies tell you to do...
"all versions of wordpress are different...so your code might be here, or there, or somewhere else...
so find these lines of php code and change them to ...."
    are you for real?

  4. Well, from the tone of your post, I doubt that you want to fix this. You have probably moved onto another blogging platform by now. If you care, the problem seems to exist because you have apparently deleted or moved the wp-rss2.php and wp-commentsrss2.php files. Either way, they don't exist in the /blogs/mike_i/ directory on your server, and they need to be there in order to properly generate the feeds.

    Now, on to your "questions":

Maybe you can tell me when RSS aggregators started reading .PHP files?

Aggregators have always read valid feeds, no matter what extension (if any) they're presented with. This includes, but is not limited to, .xml, .php, /feed/, /syndicate/, .rdf, .rss, and .html.

Do a search at this site for 'RSS problem' and look at the incredible stack of posts.

These are the WordPress Support Forums. By their very nature, they are filled with reported problems.

And also please look at what the replies tell you to do... "all versions of wordpress are different...so your code might be here, or there, or somewhere else... so find these lines of php code and change them to ...."

You are more than likely referring to the several threads which refer to the feed: issue. This is more of a personal preference and design issue. If you would read those threads more carefully, you would understand.

    Are you for real?

Yes, we are "for real". Are you?

And, finally, please create your own thread next time, rather than hijacking Mark's thread with your almost completely un-related problem.

And, further more, please take a moment to relax, and read these:

    GOD! I Love the Internet!

Can someone define "for real?" I'd like to address Meatcake's question.

Thanks, all, for your input. I'll get to work.
