Looking for a plugin that exports posts to other blogs (5 posts)

    Hello,

I manage a blog with 200+ posts (between 5 and 15k characters each). Posts are categorized in categories such as "Increase sales", "Management", "Entrepreneurship", etc.

I'd like to create specialized blogs ("slaves") that use this content based from my "master" blog's categories. ie :

    • slave blog #1 will only have posts that are in my Master blog's "Increase sales" category,
    • slave blog #2 will only have posts that are in my Master blog's "Management" category, etc.

Do you know a plugin that can do that ? Does RSStoblog do ? If no, do you know what should be the cost to hire somebody that could do it ?

Basically it needs 1st to populate the blogs from the master, and then automatically update slaves when I add new posts to the master.

The master blog runs with WP 2.3 but the slaves can run 2.5.1, blogs would run in a dedicated server.

Please let me know if you need any other information.

    Thanks a lot in advance,

I remember reading about a solution/plugins that use(s) RSS on these Forums. Unfortunately I can't remember the keywords though, but there are a number of plugins that allow people to pickup content from another blog and post it as content.

The XMLRPC client that takes commands from a Windoze app can be used in such a way, that might be your starting point. Look in the root WordPress directory. That would be for a master-controlled distribution ("push") scheme, you probably just need to add an action that happens when a post is published, causing it to communicate with the slave blog.

The other way around would be for a slave blog to periodically monitor parent RSS blogs and convert them to posts. I know the code exists because there are robot blogs all over the place that send me pingbacks right after I publish something. :-(

    Hello Mosey and Roger

I would like to thank you for your great replies.

Mosey, I haven't found plugins that can do this stuff. :-/

Unfortunately I don't think I can do it myself (hard and lack of time). If you are interested in helping me or know somebody that could do it, I have posted a project on WordPress Freelance :

    http://wordpressfreelance.com/projects/automatic_export_posts_to_other_blogs_45.html

Thanks again and Good day to you,

    Gautier.

@Gautier: It was one of the moderators who posted the suggestion initially, and although they didn't post this plugin (WP-o-Matic) I think?) the concept was somewhat similar.

Instead of exporting posts, this plugin effectively works in the recipient blog using RSS.
