Looking for a customer registration plugins or similar?

Hi

We want to add a sidebar registration form that once submitted will send an email to the customer with the email they have added (like with forum registration), with a link for them to confirm the registration.

Basically the idea is to avoid spamming etc.

Is there such a thing?
