long blog, not single post on front page (6 posts)

    Ahoy,

    I think I'm overlooking something, but I've been through all the menus.

    I'm looking for my front page to show, say the latest ten posts all in a row, instead of just one post and the 'recently' link underneath.

    Please help me out.

    Cheers,

    Hello slurkle.

    By "row", I guess you mean "column" ?

    First question : what theme do you use ?

    Second consideration :

    Normally, you set the number of post per page in :
    wp-admin > options > reading

    On this page you have a section "Blog Pages" with the option : "Show at most [X] posts"

    In the field, write the number of post you would like.

    If it doesn't work, then, the theme you use is probably bypassing this setting with a query_posts.

    Try switching to the "default" theme just to see if the setting in wp reading options works.

    If so, then your issue is theme relative and you'll have to tell us what theme you use for more help.

    Yes, I modified that option, so I assume it must be my theme.

    Sorry, yeah I mean column.

    I am running "dust-3.17"

    http://www.freewordpressthemes.com/themes/310/

    I shall switch templates to default and see whether that makes a difference.

    ---------------------
    edit: yes, it is the theme that's preventing it from showing multiple posts.

    Is there some way around this?

    Yeah, Ok. I see it.

    In your_worpress_url/wp-content/themes/dust-317

    You have the file : home.php. Open it with a decent text editor...

    At line 3 :

    <?php
    query_posts('showposts=1');
    ?>

    You can either change the showposts=1 to wathever you like (showposts=8 for instance)

    Or just get rid oh the entire three lines of this code.

    Note : I really don't know how it will look after the change... If you want to also erase the "Recently" gizmo at the bottom of the page, just let me know...
