Logo Upload Errors: Permissions and Writable Directories in the Theme Settings (7 posts)

I've installed a MOJO theme to my site. At first the permalinks were not working, so I set the permissions to 666 for all the css and php files in my entire WordPress folder. There were a few folders I could not access because opening them in my Fetch ftp app gave the message from the server "file not a plain file". But this reassigning of permissions allowed the permalinks to show up. Great.

But the Theme Settings, which hadn't worked all along, still weren't working. When I change my email for a form the email reverts to default. Or when I try to upload a logo image, I'm still getting a permissions error, "The directory is not writable". Where do I go from here?

    Thanks, Laura

wordpress folders need be 755 and files 644 else you have security problem

Your email is not saved by theme is saved by wordpress
For your images to load you can try and change permission to uploads folder to 777 which is in wp-content once you get it upload change back 755

Okay! I changed the permissions back to the numbers you recommended. The uploads folder is set to 777 and it won't even allow me to change it (or its contents) to 755 if I wanted to. The error window reads, "Server response: operation not allowed."

There is a default logo for this theme, and that is what I need to change in Theme Settings. I don't see that image in the uploads folder. I'm not sure where it is. But I am hoping to change it through the Theme Settings "Color Scheme and Logo" panel, if I can get it to do that without the error, "Upload directory ins't writable".

Is this happening because of my uploads folder, or is there perhaps another folder that cannot be accessed?

    Thanks, Laura

Have you checked if there is images folder in your theme folder if you post your url we can see the path for the header image.

I do not see any header on the website just the background and menu on left Klix at top is that your header as I see that logo is in this url
    http://medimagery.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/klix/images/logo.png

You have images folder in klix folder you change that with your own by keeping the same name replace logo.ng with your own and has to be same size.

Well, that's a workaround. I dragged the new logo into my ftp app in that directory. And now my logo appears on the blog instead of the default Klix. But still, I get the same old error message in my Theme Settings. I need to be able to adjust my Theme Settings from within the WordPress pageframe. And somehow, I'm getting directory errors.

But I am happy at least to have my logo up. Thanks!
