[resolved] login.css gone??? (5 posts)

    i wonder why that file has ... be gone now....
    now i cant use my normal login.css anymore that suites the theme!
    any clue how to restore this now?

    it was stored in wp-admin
    after upgrading to 3.3 it was gone..
    also i did read up it was calling anohter file now
    guess i have to edit that one....or is there anohter quick option?

  4. Yeah, and part of it is DON'T customize that file :)

    What you did is called 'modifying core' and that is always a bad idea.

    Instead, you should make your OWN css and put it in your theme’s folder.

    First make sure you're using a CHILD theme, otherwise when you upgrade your theme you'll loose it. If you are, make a folder in that theme folder and call it custom.

    And inside that folder create a new stylesheet called login.css. Then you put all your changes in that login.css file and you will keep them when you upgrade.

    Then edit your functions.php file and make sure you have this in there:

    <?php
    function tork_custom_login() {
    echo '<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="'.get_bloginfo('template_directory').'/custom/login.css" />';
    }
    add_action('login_head', 'tork_custom_login');
    ?>

    You may not need the <?php and ?> calls if you already have a functions.php with some code :)
