    i created a wordpress account and a blog today. i downloaded a free theam from a website. now i need to upload that theam to my blog. i tried to log in to the website through filezilla. but i cant log in. the username and the password is working when i login through the wordpress website.

    You need to get FTP access info from your hosting company - it's not generally the same as your WP login info.

    thanks for replying...
    i am not using any hosting facility. actually i just created the blog.. it is still on wordpress.
    blog address : http://recipeslk1.wordpress.com/

    i need to change the theme to a theme i downloaded from somewhere else.

    On WordPress.COM, you cannot use themes from any place except the ones available there. And there is no FTP access either. These forums here are for self-hosted WordPress.ORG sites - not the same as WordPress.COM - see this for more about the differences:

    For .COM support, you need to go here:

    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/ (but there is no way to use your own theme there)

    If you want to use another theme, you can always pay for hosting and use the free WordPress.ORG software on your own site, and then we can help you with any questions here.

    thanks for the info.... guess i need to pay for both hosting and the domain then.. i thought only the domain will be enough. :(

    Many hosts include a free domain name with their hosting plans - these are recommended if you're looking: http://wordpress.org/hosting/
