   Dear all, i want to use an external login system (my SSO).
   What is the better way to do that?
   Write a plugin? Modify the WP login system?

   Your best bet is to write a plugin.

   Look at some of the existing bridges, like to vBulletin or phpBB, those would be good examples of external user integration plugins.
