   I would like articles to display only the first X characters of information before it cuts the rest of the article off and requires users to login to view the entire article.

   I don't believe this is possible without a plugin. Does anyone know where to find one? I'm pretty new to WordPress, so I'm not quite sure where to begin.

   Simple way is this:

   That appears to be what I need. Without seeing a demo/example, I'm just basing it off of the description though.
