Login problems after hosting move... (5 posts)

    Hi all
I've moved my hosting and domain name to another company and re-uploaded my backup of all the wp files to the new server and also imported the MySQL data into a new database on their server. In doing so I had to change the database name and password. I've changed the wp-config to fit and the site is semi-working (considering it's a temporary site until the domain propagates around the web) at -

However, I can't login as I did before, I used "admin" as the "login" and then my new password with no joy. I've also tried the using the new database "user" name and the associated password with no joy.
I can't find where the login name should be if it's not "admin" by default. Should it be anything else or can I change it in one of the other wp- files?
Or is it just a propagation thing that will settle down over the next few days?
    Cheers

  2. Have you changed the Database URL and possibly name/password in the wp-config.php file yet?

Yup, new database name and password both changed in the wp-config.php
Should the login name and password be the database user name and password though or is the username stored somewhere else?
    Cheers

  4. The login info is stored inside the database. Take a look at the following link if you have phpmyadmin access. It may help you sort a few things out.
